36th Annual Crane Festival
The Monte Vista Crane Festival is one of the oldest birding festivals in the United States. Each spring up to 20,000 Sandhill Cranes migrate through the San Luis Valley of Colorado and a majority of them roost and feed on the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge offering amazing viewing opportunities for the public.
This year’s festival includes many activities: Movie Nights at the Vali 3 theater, several bird and natural history speakers throughout the festival, bus tours for crane and raptor viewing and a craft fair Friday – Sunday.
